Digital Innovation Group

Welcome to the homepage of the Digital Innovation Group (DigInG). We are part of the Computational History and Philosophy of Science (cHPS) group in the Center of Biology and Society at Arizona State University (ASU).

The Digital Innovation Group brings together students from the computer science and the history and philosophy of science to create new and innovative tools, infrastructure, and methods for digital HPS research and training.

The mission of the Digital Innovation Group is to develop new tools to support HPS researchers in processing and analyzing their data, to contribute to the development of a computational research system for history and philosophy of science, and to create new educational resources, opportunities, and experiences for students in computer science and the history and philosophy of science.

Contemporary research in the field of history and philosophy of science (HPS) makes extensive use of textual data, images, and videos. However, tools for historians and philosophers of science to work with these data are not yet at the same level of development as many tools used in the natural sciences. DigInG is dedicated to developing tools to support HPS researchers in processing and analyzing their data and to contribute to the development of a computational research system for the field of history and philosophy of science.
