Manfred Laubichler gave a talk, "Data Challenges, Opportunities and Solutions: The Issue of Crossing Disciplinary Domains," at the RDA/Europe - Max Planck Society Science Workshop on Data on February 10th 2014 at the Headquarters of the Max Planck Society in Munich.
On July 12, PhD candidates Kate MacCord and Lijing Jiang gave a presentation on their ongoing research into Chinese scientists who worked at the Marine Biological Laboratory from 1920 to 1945, and the impact of those affiliations on the development of scientific institutions in China. Kate and Lijing are working at the MBL this summer as part of the MBL Community Archives Project. The talk was well attended by MBL scientists and members of the Woods Hole community.
On Tuesday, February 19, 2013, Manfred Laubichler and PhD candidates Julia Damerow and Erick Peirson met with digital HPS collaborators at Indiana University in Bloomington. The trip was an opportunity to further develop digital and computational research infrastructure. The ASU delegation also gave a presentation at the Catapult Center for Digital Humanities and Computational Analysis, titled: "A Computational Research System for the History of Science and its Connections to Bioinformatics."
